I'm Counting On You To Misinterpret What I Say

I may have gotten the idea for this from Battlestar Galactica, I'm not sure.

Either way, I need to stop drawing so many happy things.

More robots, and maybe some space battles.

If only I could find some inspiration.

Nor Do I Posess The Funds Which To Make Their Purchase

Its spring, and Silver Surfer influences everything I do.

Click on it. Make It bigger. Do what it says.

Fair Enough

I wonder if reading about my process is entertaining enough?

I like to think of the blog as an online version of the movie "Comedian", but with (a lot) less talent.

Hopefully you feel the same way. (sucker).

Dr Sketchy April 2nd 2009

Apparently the sixth Sketchy in Cleveland, and the first one I've felt comfortable at.

I've been reading a lot of early silver surfer lately.

I have this love affair with John Buscema, and the entire early "Marvel style".

Breaking everything down into recognizable symbols rather than some sort of false realism.

Seth explains it better here.

I feel like I'm beginning to understand what I read a year ago.

All art is artifice.

Handsome Devil

This has been sitting on the side of the page for a bio pic for a while, and it looks like crap when its small (TOO MANY LINES!)

It's going away from there soon, and it can live in the main house.

Another tablet piece. Too many extraneous lines, but you can guarantee I'll be using the blue highlight again.

(a lot)

Yes It's Real, It's Just Best Not To Think About It

Things are busy in Criderville.

Life drawing at CIA tonight, Dr Sketchy tomorrow, and a date with a 5 year old next Thursday.

Comics are still intimidating right now, but I think I can draw some pretty things for your local telephone pole.

Another piece (in progress) inked with the tablet. While it allows me to kill my nerves and edit as I ink, it somehow adds HOURS to the process. Not to mention hand cramps from the stylus, and plain old ignorance of the programs (the pencils have buildings creating a line of sight to the angel, and I have no idea how to do that in the computer).

As I struggle to find a new footing after my hiatus, I'm becoming more and more convinced It'll be a hybrid of digital AND analog drawing tools.
